It's all about producing value... results. It's never about
tracking time, billable hours, or hourly rates.
Below we try to gather a representative sample of some of the projects we've produced. With that count numbering in the hundreds,
selecting is no easy task
For Warner Bros.
When the business unit responsible for distributing Neilsen ratings data needed a new process and mechanism for
making ratings data available to their network of high-level execs, they turned to us. The challenge? There was no
agreement as to what the final process would be, what the system for distribution would be, and there was just three weeks
before the fall season started. A near impossible task.
Using our methods, we rapidly brokered agreement amongst business owners as to process and a suitable distribution method.
We spearheaded collaboration, leveraging both our own resources as well as client resources in order to accomplish the goal in
such a short time frame. Finally, we provided full project management for the project.
The result was the project came in on time for the television season, on budget, and streamlined the process information workers
used to publish their data, saving them time and Warner Bros. money through increased productivity.
For Hollywood Video
Dustin provided advisory, strategic, and technical consulting to the Hollywood Video family of companies for more than
a decade, focused on the area of Internet Marketing strategies and processes, and coordinating between the Marketing and Information
Systems departments. As a result, we involved in well over 100 projects for Hollywood Video alone.
One such project arose when the web infrastructure was identified as unable to service upcoming marketing initiatives.
Using our methods, we helped to clarify business objectives, identify suitable solutions, and spearhead a $350,000 upgrade to the company's
online presence with a goal of enabling better customer engagement. By getting stakeholder agreement, marshalling both internal
and external resources, and providing project accountability, we were able to create and complete a project designed to increase
customer spending
The project succeeded expectations. Not only did it complete on time and on budget, but it generated full Return on Investment
in just eight (8) weeks and produced profit moving forward.
For iParty.com
When a publicly traded business only has a website as its lone storefront, it's bad news
when that website is slow to the point of unresponsive, crashes, and lacks features. It's worse
when a Wall Street analyst notices. And it's worse still when the technical staff lacks direction
for how to solve the problem.
Dustin embedded as Interim CTO for a period of approx. nine (9) months. During that time,
the technical department was re-staffed as well as augmented with an outsourcing company. Critical issues
were prioritized and solved in order to stabilize the legacy platform. Finally, a vendor was selected
to assist with a business visioning process prior to building the next generation platform.
As a result of these efforts the legacy system stabilized and speed radically improved - so much that the
Wall Street analyst gave kudos. The tech team was more unified, and the company was ideally positioned
to take on more storefronts - brick and mortar this time.
For Vitamins.com
When an internal audit discovered that a significant amount of order
revenue was booked as sold but not deposited to the bank,
alarm bells sounded and we were brought in.
It quickly became apparent that internal staff did not understand the process
of completing and depositing a credit card transaction. To make matters worse,
communications with the merchant processing vendor had deteriorated to the point
of nearly non-existent. As a result, internal staff were untrained and making bad decisions.
We crafted a solution to 1) train staff on the information they needed to understand the
technical process by which credit card transaction processing is conducted properly, 2) guide
and participate in the creation of a new process to attempt to capture the missing revenue, and
3) restore vendor communication to prevent this type of episode from happening again.
The result? In just weeks, more than $1M USD in missing money was captured and deposited
safely in the bank.
Priceless.
For a Publishing Client...
This client reached growth before ever putting any
system of management in place. The result was leadership
lived in anxiety regarding both the current and future status
of the company, and junior staff began in-fighting over the
best direction for the company.
After establishing clear goals and strategy,
we introduced simple methods for monitoring and measuring performance.
Additionally, Dustin Walling Associates provided accountability to
ensure that management implemented necessary plans.
As a result, the company rose to profitability for the year
and ended up with a more cohesive, positive staff.
